César de Prado is an Associate Professor at the Guangdong Institute for International Strategies (GIIS, Guangzhou, China), where he teaches on Europe, Europe-China relations and World Politics, and researches to explain, foresee and strengthen strategic relations between Europe and different parts of Asia.
Prof. César de Prado received in 2002 his PhD from the European University Institute (EUI.eu) in Florence with a thesis on Global Political Economy. He went back to the EUI in 2014 as aDistinguished Visiting Scholarin the Global Governance Programme.
In his distinguished academic and professional career he has been a research grantee at the Asia-Europe Comparative Studies Research Project of the Institute of European Studies in Macau, a Fellow or Researcher at the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation in Tokyo (Japan), Barcelona Institute of International Studies (Spain), University of Salamanca (Spain), University of Tokyo (Japan), College of Europe – United Nations University in Bruges (Belgium), University of Lund (Sweden), European Commission in Brussels (Belgium), Spanish Embassy’s Trade Section in Tokyo (Japan), and KPMG Peat Marwick in Madrid (Spain).
He has single-authored two books (Global Multi-level Governance2007;Orientate en Oriente1997), co-edited one onCentral Asia(2010), and published over 40 academic articles, book chapters and policy papers usually dealing with Europe, Asia and world issues. Some are available through the EUI’sCadmusresearch repository, and others throughDialnet.
He can lecture in several European languages and is learning basic Chinese.
